1Sambayan ready to endorse only half of Robredo's Senate bets —Luistro
Convenors of opposition coalition 1Sambayan are still deciding on the senatorial slate it will endorse for the 2022 polls, targeting to come up with a final line-up after November 15, the last day for substituting of candidates who withdraw.
Bro. Armin Luistro, one of the 1Sambayan convenors, said they have an initial list of senatorial bets in mind but can’t divulge them yet because their line-up may still change due to the substitution mechanism.

“The 1Sambayan senatorial slate is under discussion among convenors but I think we'll wait until after Nov 15 to finalize as we're told there may be some movements yet,” he told Manila Bulletin on Saturday, October 30.
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) under the Omnibus Election Code allows substitution if an initial candidate withdraws, dies, or gets disqualified by final judgment.
The poll body set the deadline for substitute candidates to file their Certificate of Candidacy (COC) until Nov. 15.

1Sambayan is backing Vice President Leni Robredo as its presidential candidate for the 2022 elections, giving her the “free rein” to choose the senatorial candidates under her ticket.
Robredo chairs the Liberal Party but will run for president as an independent candidate to show inclusivity.
With Senator Kiko Pangilinan as her vice presidential running mate, Robredo bared her Senate slate composed of reelectionist Senators Risa Hontiveros and Leila de Lima, human rights lawyer Chel Diokno, former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV and former Ifugao Rep. Teddy Baguilat Jr.
The others are former Vice President Jejomar Binay, former Senator Chiz Escudero, Alex Lacson, labor leader Sonny Matula, and incumbent Senators Dick Gordon, Joel Villanueva, and Migz Zubiri.

But Luistro said these senatorial aspirants are not fully onboard yet on 1Sambayan’s list of candidates that it will support and endorse for next year’s elections.
“We're not bound to get (the) full slate of VP (Robredo). Maybe just half then 1Sambayan will add its own. But discussions (are) ongoing,” the former Education secretary said.
