Thirdy gets even against brother Kiefer as San-En wins in OT

Thirdy Ravena keyed San-En NeoPhoenix’s come-from-behind 101-96 overtime win over his brother Kiefer and the Shiga Lakestars to split a two-game road showdown in B. League on Sunday, Oct. 3.

The Ravena siblings engaged in a memorable duel with Thirdy putting up a solid performance of 21 points, seven rebounds and five assists to lead Neo-Phoenix while Kiefer was equally impressive with 20 points and seven assists for the Lakestars.

Shiga lost steam in the extra period as Neophoenix dominated 16-11. San-En unloaded seven straight points to start the extension and create a 92-85 cushion.

Kiefer tried to rally Shiga as it cut the lead down to 94-89, but Thirdy quickly doused the rally with a big trey to lead 97-89 with 2:22 to go.

San-En just milked the clock from that point as it kept Shiga at bay to take the victory in the second of their back-to-back games to open the season.

Thirdy was backstopped by import Elias Harris with 18 markers and 11 rebounds.

Shiga, meanwhile, was led by its two imports Ovie Soko and SeanO’mara who finished with 20 and 19 points, respectively.

Thirdy, made the bigger impact for his team as he also unloaded nine points in the third frame when Neo-Phoenix staged its comeback from 18 points down in the first half.

San-En, which trailed by 15 at the break, started the third quarter with three straight 3-pointers. That set the tone for a 30-21 third frame fightback capped by a Thirdy triple at the buzzer to cut the deficit to 72-66.

Thirdy gave San-en its first taste of the lead 75-74 with a layup to cap a 9-2 spurt with  7:26 remaining in regulation. It was a nip-and -tuck affair from that point as the two teams exchanged runs, ending up tied 82-all in regulation.

The elder Ravena unloaded 11 of his totals in the first half to help Shiga build a commanding 15-36 lead heading into the break.
