PAGASA: LPA to bring rain showers, thunderstorms over Caraga, Davao Region

A low pressure area (LPA) has formed east of Mindanao and may bring scattered rain showers over Caraga and Davao Region in the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its bulletin on Sunday, Oct. 3.

The LPA, which was embedded along the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), was located 515 kilometers east of Davao City at around 3 a.m.

PAGASA weather specialist Grace CastaÃ±eda said there is an increasing chance that the LPA may develop into a tropical depression within 48 hours.

She advised the public to continue monitoring PAGASA's updates regarding this potential tropical cyclone.

As of Sunday morning, the LPA is expected to bring cloudy conditions with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Davao de Oro, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Occidental, and Davao Oriental.

Meanwhile, partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with isolated rain showers may prevail over Metro Manila and the rest of the country due to the ITCZ and localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA advised the public to take precautions against possible flash floods or landslides especially during the occurrence of severe thunderstorms, which are often accompanied by short-lived heavy rains.
