Muntinlupa has fully vaccinated 72 percent of its target population with more than 600,000 total vaccines administered in the city to date.

Data from the Muntinlupa City COVID-19 Vaccination Program (MunCoVac) showed that as of Oct. 1, 277,940 individuals have been fully vaccinated, or 72 percent of the target population of 385,725. The total includes 1,091 individuals who were vaccinated in private companies in the city.

In addition, 332,517 individuals have received the first dose, or 86.2 percent of the target population, including 13,075 people who got inoculated in private companies.

Muntinlupa’s target population of 385,725 is 70 percent of the city’s estimated 2020 total population of 551,036.

MunCoVac said as of Oct. 1, 606,098 vaccines were administered in the city, an increase of 19,685 from 586,413 recorded last Sept. 24.

The Muntinlupa City government is also registering 12 to 17-year-olds for vaccination. As of Sept. 27, 10,760 minors from 12 to 17-year-olds have registered with MunCovac, or 19 percent of the total population of 55,391 for the age group.

The Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases issued Resolution No. 141 on Sept. 30 on the vaccination of the general public and minors.

“Upon the directives of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, the National COVID-19 Immunization Program shall be opened to the general public nationwide upon the determination of the National Task Force Against COVID-19 and its Vaccine Cluster,” it stated

It added, “Further, beginning 16 October 2021, the vaccination of the pediatric population (those between the ages of twelve and seventeen (12-17) years old) with vaccines granted Emergency Use Authorization by the Food and Drugs Administration shall be piloted under a phased approach as may be determined by the National Vaccination Operations Center.”

Presidential Spokesperson Secretary Harry Roque Jr. said the pediatric vaccination of 12 to 17 years old will start with children with comorbidities, according to the Department of Health.

He said children with comorbidities will be classified under Priority Group A3 and their vaccination will need informed consent from parents or guardians and from the vaccinee.

The Philippine Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the use of the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines for children ages 12 to 17.
