DOH detects 13,273 more COVID-19 cases

The Department of Health (DOH) posted on Sunday 13,273 new cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) nationwide.

These brought the total number of confirmed cases in the Philippines since last year to 2,593,399.

Also, 112 more people died due to COVID-19, pushing the country's death toll to 38,768. The case fatality rate remained at 1.49 percent.

The number of survivors increased to 2,442,623 or 94.2 percent of the case total with 45,249 new recoveries logged on Sunday.

With the latest counts on deaths and recoveries, the number of active cases in the country was left at 112,008.

Of the active cases, 85.8 percent have mild symptoms, 6.1 percent are asymptomatic, 4.58 percent are in moderate condition, 2.5 percent are severe, and 1.1 percent are in critical condition.

The release of Sunday’s case update was once again delayed due to technical issues being experienced by the DOH’S data collecting system.

“The schedule of release shall revert back to 4 p.m. once technical issues are resolved,” the DOH said in an advisory.

“Rest assured that the DICT (Department of Information and Communications Technology) is addressing issues with COVIDKaya,” it added.
