The number of aspirants for president rose to eight on Sunday, Oct 3, the third day of the filing of certificates of candidacy (COC) for the May 2022 polls.

Independent candidate Tiburcio Marcos filed his COC for president via a representative at Sofitel Tent in Pasay City just before noon Sunday.
Other presidential aspirants who filed their COCs in previous days were the following: Senator Manny Pacquiao, Dave Aguila (independent), Dr. Jose C. Montemayor (DPP), Ley Ordenes (independent), Edmundo Rubi (independent), Lurencio Jun Yulaga (PGRP) and Victoriano Inte (independent).
No one filed for vice president on Sunday.
As for senator, four submitted their COCs yesterday led by former Senator Jinggoy Estrada and Samira Gutoc.
There were also a total of 10 party-list organizations that filed their Certificates of Nomination and Acceptance (CONAs) and list of nominees yesterday namely; Abono, 1- UTAP, VOICE Philippines, Manibela, Patrol, 1A SECAP, ACT ONE, Ilocano Defenders, PTA, and 4Ps.
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has set the COC and CONA filing period for the May 2022 polls from Oct. 1 to 8, 2021.
