Bongbong's Partido Federal ng Pilipinas launches strategy for OFWs

The party of Presidential aspirant and former Senator Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos, Jr., Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), launched a long-term plan that benefits Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) and Filipino migrants around the world.

PFP and OFW representatives agree to pursue strategy to work for welfare of Filipinos overseas

The PFP-OFW International Affairs Committee headed by its chairperson Saidah Tabao Pukunum through its president, Jeremy Henry Amar, and secretary-general Atty. Henry Capela presented the Strategic Plan Vision 2028 for OFW to PFP secretary-general Tom Lantion and PFP general counsel Atty. George Briones in a closed-door meeting held at the PFP's Manila office on Tuesday.

The PFP-OFW International Affairs Committee was created to promote and recognize the role of OFWs as a critical sector in Philippine society and implement programs that align with the vision of Marcos, the party's standard-bearer.

It also noted the challenges facing OFWs such as poor working conditions, separation anxiety, and limited time spent with their family.

The PFP-OFW International Affairs Committee aims to implement its policy framework in three phases and it is expected to create a six-year program.

The plan also calls for the creation of a task force that will come up with policy recommendations for the government. It will also review existing government policies to enhance service efficiency.

Its core programs for OFWs include skills retraining in coordination with TESDA, creation of comprehensive benefits and retirement plan, building of an OFW hospital, health insurance, scholarship grants, legal, mental and psychological support services, creation of OFW cooperatives, establishment of an OFW Bank, and strengthening of community-based fellowship programs.

Briones, meanwhile, lauded the PFP-OFW International Affairs Committee's effort to come up with a policy framework that complements Marcos' unifying brand of leadership.

He reminded members of the PFP-OFW International Affairs Committee that the PFP is a party that prides itself as a 'party of the common man'. Briones added that the PFP will carry Marcos to victory in the upcoming 2022 national polls.

"The PFP is a party of the common man. A party of the poor. A party of the grassroots. This is the party that will carry Senator Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. to victory," Briones concluded. (Melvin Sarangay)
