ILOILO CITY—The Western Visayas regional office of the Department of Agriculture (DA) has tapped two state colleges to review the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA) in Iloilo province, one of the country’s top rice producers.
The Northern Iloilo Polytechnic State College (NIPSC) in Estancia town and Iloilo State College of Fisheries (ISCOF) in Barotac Nuevo town were selected to conduct the October-December 2021 review and validation of data gathered from farmers and other agri-stakeholders.
DA-6 Regional Director Remelyn Recoter said Iloilo was chosen in Western Visayas as it has the highest number of farmers while having the largest hybrid rice areas.

Recoter explained that the information from RSBSA serve as a reference for the granting of the national government’s programs including machinery, infrastructures, financing, or insurances.
As for Iloilo, there will be around 1,600 respondents to be interviewed by NIPSC and ISCOF researchers.
The validated data will serve as a guide to DA-6 on how to improve the current RSBSA procedures and enrolment forms.
Meanwhile, DA-6 is urging farmers who have not yet been listed for RSBSA to visit their respective municipal agriculture offices.
