'Fun break' turned breaking the Internet: Gigi De Lana tells All

Incontestably on the rise is Gigi De Lana of cover band The Gigi Vibes who, along with members Jon Cruz, Romeo Marquez, Jake Manalo, and LA Arquero, broke the Internet this year with her music. Despite being a grand finalist in It’s Showtime’s “Tawag ng Tanghalan Season One” in 2016, it took a while for Gigi to make her voice heard by millions. What finally made it possible: A surprise prank done during their band’s online live streaming performance where she gamely sang Roselle Nava's“Bakit Nga Ba Mahal Kita?” in different musical key notes.

Gigi's cover of the OPM hit is currently at 15 million views and growing. In fact, from what was meant as a “fun break” from their usual virtual music concerts, their GG Vibes Live YouTube show now gets over a million views with every release.

Gigi has since welcomed these unexpected but sweet turn of events. The 26-year-old musician is even more inspired to continue making music for her online viewers, now that it has the full support of PLDT Home.
