Bongbong Marcos eyes VP running mate from VisMin

Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) standard-bearer Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. is still looking around for a running mate who has a strong domain in the Visayas and Mindanao.

This was after the former lawmaker’s eldest sister, Senator Imee Marcos, said in a Teleradyo interview Wednesday, October 27, that her brother is still searching for a running mate for the 2022 national elections.

"Very obvious naman 'yung preference namin, sinasabing may ‘Solid North,’ mas malakas kami sa norte. Si Bongbong may National Capital Region din, malakas din naman kahit paano. Tapos Region 8. Pero medyo takot sa Mindanao, medyo bulag kami doon. So naturally we’re tending towards the Mindanao and VisMin candidates (Our preference is very obvious, we have the so-called 'Solid North'. We’re strong in the north. Bongbong is also strong in the National Capital Region somehow as well as Region 8. But we are a bit scared when it comes to Mindanao. We are quite blind there.)," Sen. Marcos said.

Sen. Marcos also revealed that they were taken by surprise when Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio decided not to run for the presidency.

"Nagulat kami talaga. Hindi namin akalain na hindi pipila. Medyo sidelined talaga kami (We were really surprised. We did not think that she would not file (her candidacy for President). We were quite sidelined)," she said.

"We're really not ready. Sabi ni Bongbong, ni wala akong Senate slate, ni wala akong ka-partido, ni wala akong vice president (We're really not ready. Bongbong said that he has no Senate slate, no partymates, no vice president)."

"Bongbong really wanted to have a tandem with Inday Sara. Gusto lang magbise nun kay Inday Sara (Bongbong really wanted to form a tandem with Inday Sara. He just wanted to run as Inday Sara's vice president)," added the former Ilocos Norte governor and congresswomen. (Melvin Sarangay)
