Pasig City’s newly-hired teachers get free laptops

The Pasig City local government distributed laptops with hard drives to the city's newly hired teachers as it ramps up its efforts to address the difficulties of online learning brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.

A total of 40 new Department of Education (DepEd) teachers received the laptops on Tuesday, Oct. 26.

"Maraming bagong pagsubok ngayong school year lalo na kapag puwede nang bumalik sa face-to-face, pero alam kong kayang-kaya nila ito! Mabuhay ang mga guro ng Pasig (There will be new challenges for this school year, especially once face-to-face classes resume. But I know that they can do it)," Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto said.

Sotto, in a Viber message to Manila Bulletin, said that around 4,600 public school teachers in the city have received laptops from the city government.

The mayor added that teachers with old and unserviceable laptops assigned to them may coordinate with the Schools Division Office of the city for a replacement.
