Carlos Yulo's gold medal in world gymnastics meet earns praise from Japanese ambassador


Japanese Ambassador to the Philippines Kazuhiko Koshikawa has nothing but praises for Filipino gymnast Carlos Yulo after claiming the world championship title in Japan on Sunday, Oct. 24.

The Ambassador commended Yulo's outstanding finish in the 50th FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in a post on Twitter Monday, Oct. 25.

"Huge congratulations Carlos Yulo for his historic wins at the #Kitakyushu2021 #GWC2021," Koshikawa said.

"It was exhilarating to witness his phenomenal talent on full display. His unwavering dedication led him to these victories, and for sure will take him to more success!" the ambassador added.

Yulo bagged the gold medal after scoring 14.916 in vault. It was his second world championship crown.

The Filipino athlete has been training in Japan for almost half a decade. He is currently studying in Teikyo University.

He has been training under Japanese coach Munehiro Kugiyama in Tokyo since 2016 when he accepted a scholarship program offer in Japan.
