Season 8 Finale marks MPL PH return to offline event after 2 years

For the first time since Season 4 or after two years, MPL Philippines will finally be held in an offline setting at the World Trade Center for the final day of the MPL PH Season 8 on Sunday October 24.

The event will still be missing its crowd in the venue but this still marks the first time that the players will be able to play face-to-face since the league moved its tournaments online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The day kicks off with the clash of the kings in the lower bracket finals with MPL season 7 champions Blacklist International hoping to avenge its upper bracket loss to MSC kings Omega Esports at 2pm.

The winner will then take on the streaking Onic Philippines which has not dropped a single game so far in its Season 8 playoff run in the Grand Finals at 6pm

Interestingly, Blacklist’s Jonmar “OhmyV33nus” Villaluna, Danerie “Wise” Del Rosario and Onic’s Allen “Baloyskie” Baloy was part of MPL’s last offline event held at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City on October 6, 2019.

The three were still part of the Onic PH team that finished runners up to Season 4 champions Sunsparks.

The event should also be nostalgic for Omega’s Joshua “Ch4knu” Mangilog and Billy “Z4pnu” Alfonso who formed the core of the Execration team which also participated in that Season 4 playoffs.
