Filipino-owned skincare line is official partner of 2021 Miss Universe pageant

For the third time, O Skin Med Spa in California run by a Filipino has been tapped as the official skincare partner of the 70th Miss Universe Competition which will be held in Israel in December.

Â
Â
Filipino-Chinese Olivia Quido-Co, CEO and Founder of O Skin Med Spa, said she is thrilled to raise the Philippine flag again in the most prestigious beauty pageant later this year.
Â
Â
Â
"I am so happy that O Skin Med Spa will be the official skincare partner for the 2021 Miss Universe beauty pageant in Israel. I am honored to be part of the event. Pilipinas uli ang mag-a-alaga sa skin nila," said Quido-Co during an online interview last Saturday, Oct. 23.
Â
Â
Â
For this year, Quido-Co revealed that she will launch new products exclusively for Miss Universe.
Â
Â
Â
Â
"I'll be having special products for the 70th edition of the Miss Universe pageant. This product will give them a glassy-look skin. Pag nilagay nila sa face nila and product, kikintab ang mga face nila, so I am excited about that. Yan ang aabangan nila sa Beauty Day of 2021 Miss Universe pageant in Israel," she said.
Â
Â
Â
Aside from the skincare line, the California-based licensed esthetician said she might collaborate with the Miss Universe Organization to produce the official Miss Universe slippers, headbands, robes, etc.
Â
Â
Â
Quido-Co said that she has met Beatrice Luigi Gomez, the country's representative to the Miss Universe Competition.
Â
Â
Â
"I was able to interview her prior to winning Miss Universe Philippines. I was able to interview all the 30 delegates pero hindi ko pa siya ganun ka-kilala. Maybe sa Israel, I'll have the chance to get to know her more," she said.
Â

Â
Quido-Co also recalled her experience as head judge of the 2021 Miss Universe Colombia pageant won by Valeria Ayos.
Â
Â
Â
Ayos, 27, is a familiar figure among pageant fanatics after she represented her country at the Miss Earth 2018 pageant in Manila.
Â
Â
Â
Quido-Co recalled her bonding moments with Ayos.
Â
Â
Â
"Miss Colombia Valeria Ayos was the unanimous choice for Miss Universe Colombia. Tumira siya sa Pilipinas for one month and a half. She fell in love with the food, the people. She said her experience in the Philippines was simply amazing," she said.
Â
Â
Â
Quido-Co continued: "Then she went back to Colombia. And then bumalik siya uli sa Pilipinas for another one month and a half. She got to know more about the Philippines."
Â
Â
Â
She also said that she bonded a lot with the Colombian beauty queen after she won. "We went to a morning show. And I asked her how nervous she was during the competition. She said that her heart was pumping out of her chest. But I told her it did not show."
Â
Â
Â
Â
Ayos ranked third in the environmental-driven pageant, winning Miss Earth-Water 2018.
Â
Â
Â
Quido-Co also recalled Miss Universe Canada 2020 Nova Stevens who became controversial after she clapped back on racial insults hurled against her, during the Miss Universe Competition in Florida in May.
Â
Â
Â
"I remember when I first met her, and she found out I was a Filipina, she hugged me so tight. Ang tangkad niya, so sumuko pa siya. That's one thing I remember about her. She's charming. Also, after I interviewed her, she messaged me privately, to thank me. She said the Filipinos are so supportive of their candidates in pageants," she said.
