Xiandi Chua and John Neil Paderes completed a sweep of their three events at the end of the 2021 Philippine Swimming Inc. National Selection tournament at the New Clark City Aquatics Center in Capas, Tarlac Sunday.

Chua, a 20-year-old standout from the All-Star Swim Club, captured the women’s 100-meter freestyle gold medal with a time of 59.68 seconds to edge out Rising Atlantis Swim Club’s Camille Buico (1:00.34) and Quezon City Buccaneers’ Chloe Daos (1:00.35).

“My times in this meet weren’t really good because my times went up. But I think it’s a nice opportunity to race again,” said Chua, whose earlier wins came from the 200m individual medley and 200m freestyle.

Nineteen-year-old Paderes from BEST Main, meanwhile, ruled the men’s 50m backstroke in 27.77 seconds to follow up his earlier victories in the 200m and 100m back.

Sharing the day’s spotlight were Miguel Barreto in the men’s 100m freestyle (53.52sec), Shayne Lugay in the women’s 50m back (32.32sec), Hannah Sanchez in the women’s 800m free (9:57.36), Jordan Lobos in the men’s 200m breaststroke (2:21.49), Ivan Radovan in the men’s 200m butterfly (2:13.71), Thanya Dela Cruz in the women’s 200m breast (2:43.44), and Chloe Daos in the women’s 200m fly (2:22.57).

The three-day event was supported by the Philippine Sports Commission, the Bases Conversion and Development Authority, and the Clark Development Corporation.
