An earthquake measuring 4.2-magnitude shook Camarines Sur early Saturday morning, Oct. 23, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The tremor, which occurred at 3:44 a.m., had originated at 2 kilometers northeast of Canaman, Camarines Sur.
Phivolcs said it was strongly felt at Intensity V in Naga City, Canaman, and Pili in Camarines Sur, while it was moderately strong at Intensity IV in Sipocot, Camarines Sur.
Its instruments also measured the quake at Intensity V in Pili, Camarines Sur; Intensity II in Iriga City, Camarines Sur; and Intensity I in Daet and Mercedes, Camarines Norte.
Phivolcs said the earthquake may have caused damage in the affected areas.
Meanwhile, aftershocks were not expected.
