New bridge in Zarraga, Iloilo to help boost farmers' income

Farmers in the municipality of Zarraga in Iloilo province will no longer have to wade through a stream to bring their produce to the market as the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) completed the construction of the 28.8-meter bridge connecting two barangays.

With the completion of the bridge, Zarraga Mayor John Tarrosa said residents and farmers can now go to the various destinations, even during rainy days when the waters in the stream rise.

"Before the bridge was constructed, farmers and residents cross the stream which is flooded during heavy rains making it impassable," Tarrosa said.

The bridge, named Kasalsagan Bridge, has connected the barangays of Talibong and Jaland Norte and is expected to boost the income of the farmers.

Around 4,000 farmers and residents will benefit from the project.
