Australia eases travel restrictions

Effective November 1, 2021, Australian citizens, permanent residents and their immediate family members can enter Sydney, Australia without quarantine arrangements, provided they are fully vaccinated and comply with document requirements, according to the Philippine Airlines ( PAL) advisory issued, Thursday, Oct. 21, 2021.

The policy requires eligible travelers to be fully vaccinated with any of the six vaccine brands recognized by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA).

These include COVID-19 Pfizer Comirnaty, AstraZeneca Vaxzevria, Janssen-Cilag (also known as Johnson & Johnson) COVID-19, Moderna Spikevax, Coronavac (Sinovac) and Covishield (AstraZeneca/Serum Institute of India).

Eligible travelers must present a vaccination certificate issued by a national public health authority, in the form of a digital or paper certificate.

A negative RT-PCR result taken within 72 hours and a duly accomplished Australia Travel Declaration at least 72 hours before flight departure must also be presented before the flight.

Unvaccinated individuals and those who received vaccines not approved or recognized by TGA must quarantine for a period of 14 days upon arrival in Australia.

Non-Australian citizens and non-permanent residents are still not allowed to enter Australia, unless they secure travel exemption from the Australian Department of Home Affairs.

PAL also released the schedule of its flights from Manila to Sydney:

November 5 (via Brisbane) • November 9, 12, 16, 19 and 26 • December 3 (via Brisbane) • December 7, 10, 14, 17, 20, 22, 23, 26, 27 and 28

From January to March 2022, PAL will fly from Manila to Sydney every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday.

PAL flights from Sydney to Manila are scheduled on: • November 6 • November 10, 13, 17, 20 and 27 (via Melbourne) • December 4 • December 8, 11, 15, 18 (via Melbourne) • December 21, 23, 27, 28 and 29.

From January to March 2022, PAL will fly from Sydney to Manila every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday.

PAL will continue to monitor any new information the New South Wales government may provide in the coming days.
