ICYMI: Budjette Tan and Kajo Baldisimo release new 'Trese' story and it's for a cause

Alexandra Trese discovers who ‘The Siren’s Executioner’ is

A new case is upon Alexandra Trese as comic creators Budjette Tan and Kajo Baldisimo release a new story for the graphic novel “Trese.”

Dubbed as “The Siren’s Executioner,” the new story puts a light on the case of a mermaid, a warrior of her tribe, and the paranormal investigator as she uncovers the mystery behind the mythical creature’s death. The eight-page comic was released on social media by author Budjette early in October as part of the “10 Years to Save the World” comic anthology.

The project, supported by the British Council, is in partnership with The Lakes International Comic Art Festival (based in the UK) Komiket (based in the Philippines), Philippine International Comics Festival (PICOF), and Creative Concern (a communications agency specializing in sustainability), which uses the power of comics to stimulate action in young people aged 18 to 24 in response to climate change and COP26.

“We have commissioned ten internationally-recognized comic and graphic artists—five from the Philippines and five from the UK,” it says. “They will represent the diversity and quality of the medium, they will have international profiles, and are influencers on social media.”

Other Filipino works included in the project are the creations of Kevin Eric Raymundo (Tarantadong Kalbo), Manuel “Manix” Abrera, and Emiliana Kampilan.

With only 10 years left to save the world, it looks like Alexandra Trese shouldn’t be the only one taking action.
