DOH reports 14,786 additional COVID-19 infections

The country recorded on Saturday 14,786 new people infected with coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The case total since the pandemic began stood at 2,580,173 with 5.6 percent or 144,061 are active cases, based on the latest case update of the Department of Health (DOH).

Majority or 80.3 percent of the active cases have mild symptoms, 13.4 percent were asymptomatic, 3.56 percent were in moderate condition, 1.9 percent were severe, and 0.8 percent were in critical condition.

Also, 894 more patients recuperated. The new figure brought the number of recoveries to 2,397,456 or 92.9 percent of the total infection.

The death toll also rose to 38,656 or 1.50 percent of the COVID-19 case count after 164 more people died because of the viral illness.
