The Senate Blue Ribbon Committee on Tuesday cited in contempt siblings Mohit and Twinkle Dargani, both top officials of Pharmally Pharmaceutical Corporation, for their failure to comply with the panel’s order to submit the necessary documents senators are asking in relation to their investigation into the alleged anomalous procurement of COVID-19 pandemic supplies.

Blue ribbon chair, Senator Richard Gordon, moved to declare the Darganis in contempt and ordered their detention in the Senate.

Mohit Dargani serves as Pharmally’s corporate secretary and treasurer while his sister, Twinkle serves as the company’s president.

It was Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon who made the motion to cite the two Pharmally executives for contempt.

“Obviously, Mr. Dargani is refusing to comply with the subpoena. The same thing with Twinkle Dargani. They have legal defenses,” Drilon pointed out during the resumption of the Senate panel’s hearing,” Drilon told the panel.

“I assume when we place them under detention until they comply.. they will refuse and qeustion this in court, let him question it in court. But I move that Mr. Dargani and Twinkle Dargani be both declared in contempt for refusal to comply with the subpoena for the production of these documents. Let Mr. Mohit Dargani question us in court. We are willing to stand by this,” the minority leader reiterated.

Sen. Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan seconded Drilon’s motion, and prompted Gordon to act on his request.

“Chairman supports it. I don’t think anybody in this committee will object to that. So ordered,” Gordon answered.

Prior to being cited for contempt, Mohit defended himself saying he it is the company that is refusing to provide the documents.

“It was the advise to us by our legal counsel,” he said.

The committee had earlier subpoenaed the documents relating to Pharmally’s subsidiary ledgers, sales invoices, official receipts and summary list of sales.
