Antique launches support for Isko Moreno’s presidential bid

ILOILO CITY — Local supporters of Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso have launched a movement supporting his presidential bid in Antique, the home province of the father of the actor-turned-politician.

“Mayor Isko has Antiqueño blood. He will definitely get the support of the Antiqueños,” said Antique Provincial Board Member Vincent Piccio III.

The Ikaw Muna (IM) Pilipinas group launched Monday, October 18, the Antique movement that backs Moreno’s presidential candidacy.

“Mayor Isko’s father is from Hamtic and transferred to Manila to find a better life,” Piccio told Manila Bulletin in a phone interview.

Piccio, who is the lead convenor of IM Pilipinas in Antique, said that Mayor Isko will surely carry votes in all 18 towns of the province.

IM Pilipinas believes that the presidential candidate can gather votes from the rest of Western Visayas, a region that also comprises of Aklan, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental provinces.

“Mayor Isko is a Visayan, who grew up in Manila. His mother is from Samar,” Piccio added.

Governor Rhodora “Dodod” Cadiao also expressed pride that Mayor Isko has roots in Antique province.

But it is unclear if that’s an official endorsement. The incumbent lady governor is running for reelection under the National Unity Party (NUP).

Mayor Isko is the standard bearer of Aksyon Demokratiko, the political party founded by the late senator Raul Roco.
