27 areas in Pateros under granular lockdown

A total of 27 areas in Pateros are under granular lockdown as the municipality’s active coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases continue to go down.

This was disclosed by Interior and Local Government Usec. Jonathan Malaya during the “Laging Handa” public briefing on Oct. 18.

Under the guidelines previously released by Pateros Mayor Miguel “Ike” Ponce III, the houses of COVID-19 positive patients and close contacts will be put under granular lockdown from the day the results of the Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) test of the infected person comes out.

Persons in a house or places put under granular lockdown are prohibited from going out for 14 days unless they are housemates of the close contact person, health worker or non-health worker working in health facilities, departing overseas Filipino worker or someone who is attending to an emergency health concern. Visitors are also not allowed to go to houses under granular lockdown.

The Pateros municipal government disclosed the latest COVID-19 cases, showing that the number of active COVID-19 cases has gone down to 148 as of Oct. 18, down from 450 active cases last Oct. 1.

The 148 active cases are out of 7,668 confirmed cases, 7,420 recoveries and 95 deaths in Pateros. The municipality recorded 28 new cases, 27 recoveries and one death on Oct. 18.

Of the total active cases, 146 are under isolation and two are for isolation. A total of 81, or 55 percent, of the active cases are asymptomatic while 67, or 45 percent, are mild cases.

During the briefing, Malaya said granular lockdown can be implemented at any alert level. Metro Manila is currently under Alert Level 3.

He said from 303 places under granular lockdown in Metro Manila last Oct. 1, there are now only 139 places under it.
