Robredo, Marcos in close fight for presidency —MB polls

Vice President Leni Robredo was slightly preferred over former senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos to become the country's next President in an online survey conducted by the Manila Bulletin from Oct. 15 to Oct. 17, 2021.

Robredo was picked by 41.8 percent of those who participated in the survey conducted in MB’s website. Marcos was at 41.3 percent.

Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson was third with 8.8 percent, and Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso was fourth, 4.6 percent. Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa was next at 2.5 percent.

In the vice presidential race, Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan was the frontrunner with 35.7 percent, while Senator Christopher “Bong” Go was second with the approval of 29.7 percent of those who took part in the survey.

Lacson’s running mate Senate President Tito Sotto was at 17.7 percent, while Dr. Willie Ong, Domagoso’s vice presidential bet, was fourth at 15.1 percent. Former Manila mayor and Buhay party-list Rep. Lito Atienza had 1.8 percent.

Concurrent surveys were done on the Manila Bulletin’s Facebook and Twitter pages.

In the survey on Facebook, which garnered over 800,000 reactions, 73% of respondents opted for Marcos as President, while 24% chose Robredo. Domagoso placed third, followed by Dela Rosa, Pacquiao, and Lacson.

In Twitter, meanwhile, the results were slightly different than the one on the Manila Bulletin website and Facebook page. Leading at 45.8% was Robredo, followed by Marcos with 41.2%, and then Domagoso at 4.6%. Dela Rosa got 3.3% of the responses, with Lacson having 3.2% and Pacquiao at 1.7%.
