The Commission on Elections (Comelec) clarified that Vice President and presidential aspirant Leni Robredo has not been disqualified from running in next year's general polls.

"VP Leni Robredo has not been disqualified. Video and articles that imply or suggest otherwise are #fakenews," Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez tweeted on Sunday, Oct. 17.

Jimenez made the statement amid videos circulating online that Robredo has been disqualified.

"Video and articles that imply or suggest otherwise are #fakenews. COMELEC's reminders on prohibited sources of funding apply to all would-be candidates. #fightfake," he said.

"Pare-pareho silang lahat na walang violation dahil hindi pa naman sila official candidates," he added.

Last Oct. 7, Robredo filed her certificate of candidacy (COC) for president in the May 2022 elections.

In a radio interview on Sunday, Jimenez said they are expected to release the official list of candidates for the May 2022 elections by the end of this year.
