Denice Zamboanga roots for Marrok Force teammate Jeremy Miado

Top-ranked women's atomweight fighter Denice Zamboanga is rooting for her teammate Jeremy Miado when he takes on Chinese foe Miao Li Tao in a strawweight rematch in ONE: NEXTGEN on Oct. 29 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

"He's doing great and he's been really hardworking in our training. I could say that he is one of the best teammates I have," said Zamboanga of Miado. " is almost in the same weight as me, so he has been very helpful in training me and sparring with me in the leadup to my last fight."

It was Zamboanga who had advised Miado to come join them at Marrok Force in Bangkok, Thailand. Denice's brother, Drex, is also part of the Filipino delegation in Marrok Force.

"I told Jeremy, why don't you try and become a sponsored athlete here in Marrok Force? Because I can see the potential in him and his wife (Chesla Nuval) and I'm happy that they got accepted here," added the younger Zamboanga.

Miado earlier said his ground game has improved since joining Marrok Force, a vital arsenal that he can use against Miao.

Zamboanga, for her part, is a witness to Miado's improvement and welcomed the fact that another Filipino joined their camp.

"I'm really impressed with his (Miado) speed and accuracy in his striking. He's really an effective sparring partner and he's not selfish in sharing the techniques that he knows to all of us," said Zamboanga.

This will be Miado's comeback after two years since his knockout win against Miao last November 2019.

The 28-year-old Filipino fighter currently holds a 9-4 record while Miao has a 6-4 slate.
