Gen. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar, chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), said the operation came after operatives of the PNP Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) and agents from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) managed to negotiate for the purchase of a large quantity of the shabu from the suspects.

The suspects were identified as Erbo Ke, 34; Cai Ya Bing, 29; Huang Guidong, 44; and Wuyuan Shen, 41.

After the suspects agreed to sell shabu, the buy-bust was set up at around 10 a.m. on Gadiola Street, Punta Verde Subd., in Pulung Cacutod in Angeles City.

The suspects, however, allegedly tried to fight off after the arrest was announced, resulting in a brief gunfight that led to their death.

Seized were 38 kilos of shabu with a street value of P262 million, four .45 pistols and a cellular phone.

Eleazar said the operation was part of the continuous follow-up since authorities seized more than P3.4 billion worth of shabu in Zambales.

He said the slain suspect were companions of Basher Bangon, a big-time drug trafficker killed in a buy-bust in Cavite last month.
