Raffy Tulfo meets showbiz press in his first live conference, reacts to Willie Revillame's decision not to run in 2022

Senate frontrunner broadcaster Raffy Tulfo met members of the entertainment press in his first face-to-face conference in Quezon City recently.

"It's an honor to meet the entertainment press. Maraming salamat po sa inyong lahat," Tulfo said.

Tulfo continued: "Ang movie industry ay isa sa mga hard-hit dahil sa pandemya. And my heart goes out to them. Ang mga artista, mga talents, nawalan sila ng mga trabaho. Mapalad nga yung iba sa atin meron pang trabaho. Pero paano yung mga ibang artista, cameraman, mga extra na nawalan ng trabaho?

"Ganun din ang movie press. Naiintindihan ko ang inyong kalagayan. Kung walang mga pelikula, hirap din ang mga kalagayan ninyo.

"And I am glad that Rep. Nina Taduran ay isa sa mga author ng Magna Carta for the Media. Hindi pa naipapasa yan. pero pagdating ko doon sa Senado, ipaglalaban ko yan para maipasa natin," he said.

Asked to react to Willie Revillame's decision not to run in 2022, Tulfo said: "Hindi ko talaga alam ang tunay na dahilan kung bakot hindi siya tumuloy sa pagtakbo. Hindi ako mag-speculate kung ano talaga ang kanyang tunay na dahilan.

"Ang pagkaka-alam ko, isa rin siyang matulungin na tao tulad ko. Malapit din ang puso niya sa mahihirap natin na kababayan. Mataas ang respeto sa kanya ng mga naghihikahos natin na kababayan.

"Ako rin mismo nakita ko kung paano siya umakyat, mula sa simpleng napakababang tao hanggang sa naging bilyonaryo at sikat na celebrity dahil sa kanyang may ginintuang puso sa pagtulong sa ating mga kababayan," Tulfo said.

Tulfo also said that he is open to invitations as guest candidates to other political parties. "As long as pareho ang adbokasiya ko sa kanila. Marami na po ang nakikipag-usap sa akin."

When asked why he decided to run as an independent, Tulfo answered: "Ayoko magkaroon ng utang na loob sa ibang partido."

Prior, members of the entertainment press underwent nasal swab testing before they were allowed to enter the restaurant. No one was tested positive for the deadly virus. Inside, the members of the media were obliged to wear face masks and face shields.

In a survey released by SWS for September, Tulfo is ranked No.1 among the most preferred senatorial candidates in the May 2022 national elections.
