Kodie Macayan was crowned Mister Gay World during a virtual presentation held early this morning, Oct. 17
“We did it, Philippines! Thank you so much for taking this beautiful journey with me and held on until we have achieved this victorious back-to-back milestone at @mgworg,” said Macayan on Instagram.
“I can’t find the right words to express the overwhelming joy that I feel right now and the gratitude that I have for all the love and support that I have been receiving from everyone.
“Thank you to Mr. @ericgbutter, the great people behind the Mr Gay World Organization, and the wonderful judges for seeing something in me and for entrusting me with the responsibility to carry the legacy of the Mr. Gay World Organization through my reign. This is a huge honor and dream come true,” Macayan added.
Macayan, 31, is the third Mr. Gay World winner from the Philippines. The other Filipino winners John Raspado (2017) and John Jeff Carlos (2019).
Marek Piekarczyk of Poland won 1st runner-up while Vicente Miron, Mexico, 2nd runner-up.
Macayan enjoys freehand drawing, painting, fashion design and illustration, and singing. His vision is to help build a safer and more inclusive community that is based on acceptance, equality, and love. He hopes to improve the quality of life for all in the LGBTQ+ community.
Prior, Macayan said he is anxious and excited to represent the Philippines in the competition.
“I feel so anxious and excited!! Whatever happens, win or lose, God knows I have given my 200% effort and hard work, so I can represent my beloved Philippines at my best. I can still remember how I first imagined myself to be a Mr. Gay World Philippines back in 2016 when John Raspado won and the dream continued when ate Janjep Carlos won in 2019. I thought this can only happen when hell freezes over, but here I am, living my dream,” he said.
