Blacklist Ultimate falls short in semis showdown vs DG

Blacklist International.Ultimate fell short in its bid to qualify for 2021 CODM World Championships as it fell to the hands of Dunia Games Esports, 3-2, in their semifinal series in the Garena Qualifiers on Sunday, October 17.

After trailing the series 2-1, the Filipinos managed to force the winner-take-all Search and Destroy but just couldn’t keep up with the much-composed Indonesian side.

It was a nip-and-tuck affair in Summit as the two teams exchanged points with DG Esports, prevailing on the defender’s side for a 3-2 lead before the switch. The Indonesians took their game a notch higher from that point as they took three of the next four rounds for a 6-3 triumph to formally book a spot to the Finals.

Jeffry "Jeff" Lim stepped up in the absence of DG star Andhika “Clover” Syukur by taking the Soldier of the Game honors, finishing with an average of 17 kills and four assists against 14 deaths with an average score of 2256 through the five games.

Blacklist actually went off to a hot start as it took control of the Hardpoint in Firing Range with a dominating 150-87 victory to draw first blood in the series.

DG Esports responded well as it opened up the Search and Destroy on the Defender’s side with an early 2-0 lead. The Filipinos retaliated with three straight points to take a 3-2 advantage but the Indonesians took full control of the game after scoring on three of the next four rounds to seal the Raid in a 6-3 tally.

Riding the momentum of Map 2 victory, DG went to work in the early goings of Domination. The Filipinos rallied back to cut the lead down to 75-64 after the first half. DG though kept its composure in the second half, taking down Blacklist 150-100 in Standoff for a 2-1 series lead and moved one win away from the Finals.

The Indonesians had the chance to end the series in the hard point with a fiery 63-36 start but the Filipinos refused to go down easily as it tied the game 118-all.

Averson “Skerd” Salaya then made a clutch play taking down four players on the side of DG to get the much-needed separation and eventually close map 4 with a 150-121 victory to force the winner-take-all.

Blacklist has a chance to end the tournament on a winning note when it battles the loser of the match between WDC.Freeslot and Almghty in the battle for third.
