UP Cagayanos mounts donation drive for 'Maring' victims

The University of the Philippines (UP) Cagayanos on Saturday, Oct. 16, made use of its social media account to mount a donation drive for the victims of severe tropical storm "Maring."

The group said it aims to help farmers, schools, and families who were devastated by STS Maring.

"This is a recovery effort to assist the immediate needs of these affected groups in the hope of alleviating the current resource struggles of our fellow Cagayanos," UP Cagayanos wrote.

Interested donors may directly message the group through its official Facebook page.

Maring's damage to agriculture as of Saturday stood at P1.7 billion, affecting 56,718 farmers and fishers in Cordillera Administrative Region, Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, and Soccksargen, according to the Department of Agriculture.

Meanwhile, death toll rose to 30 as of Friday, Oct. 14, while 13 other remain missing, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said.
