PAGASA: Cloudy skies, rains to affect parts of PH

Cloudy skies with rain showers and thunderstorms may affect parts of the country over the weekend, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Saturday, Oct. 16.

The state weather bureau said the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), a region where the trade winds from the northern and southern hemispheres converge, would continue to affect Luzon and Visayas.

Based on the latest weather bulletin, Palawan may experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the prevailing ITCZ.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country may have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

State meteorologists warned against possible flash floods or landslides that may occur during severe thunderstorms.

On the other hand, a gale warning has been raised over the seaboard of Northern Luzon particularly in Batanes and Babuyan Islands.

The PAGASA warned that rough to very rough sea conditions may prevail over these areas, with waves ranging from 2.8 to 4.5 meters in height.

Meanwhile, the agency is currently monitoring a low pressure area (LPA) which was last spotted 405 kilometers west of Coron, Palawan.

The weather disturbance, which was embedded along the ITCZ, was moving away from the landmass and would have no direct affect to any part of the country.
