Police arrested a tricycle driver after he yielded some P886,000 worth of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) during a buy-bust operation Thursday night in Barangay New Lower Bicutan, Taguig City.

Taguig police chief Col. Celso Rodriguez and Southern Police District director Brig. Gen. Jimili Macaraeg identified the suspect as Musalik Balakanen, 27, a resident of Taguig.
Balakanen was arrested at about 11:30 on Oct. 14 in an operation conducted by the Taguig Drug Enforcement Unit on Maguindanao Street in New Lower Bicutan.
Confiscated from the suspect were six plastic sachets containing about 30.3 grams of shabu estimated to be worth P206,040 and two other plastic sachets with about 100 grams of shabu worth P680,000.
In total, authorities seized 130.2 grams of shabu with a value of P886,040 from the suspect.
The drugs will be turned over to the SPD Crime Laboratory for analysis.
Balakanen is now detained at the Taguig police station and will be charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
“Batid natin ang hirap ng sitwasyon na dulot ng COVID-19 ngunit hindi katanggap tanggap na gumawa tayo ng labag sa batas upang maiahon ang ating pamilya sa kahirapan. Sa ating mga kababayan huwag po tayong masilaw sa perang nagmumula sa illegal na paraan,” said Macaraeg.
