Broadcaster Raffy Tulfo is the leading senatorial aspirant in the latest Social Weather Stations' (SWS) survey on Filipinos' preferred senatorial candidates in the 2022 national elections.
The commissioned SWS survey was conducted from Sept. 12 to 16 using face-to-face interviews of 1,200 adults nationwide.
The respondents were shown a list of names provided by independent research organization Stratbase ADR Institute.
The exact phrasing of the survey question was: "Narito po ang listahan ng mga pangalan ng mga kandidato para sa mga senador ng Pilipinas. Kung ang eleksiyon ay gaganapin ngayon, sino ang pinakamalamang ninyong iboboto bilang mga senador ng Pilipinas? Maaari po kayong pumili ng hanggang 12 pangalan."
(Here is a list of names of candidates for senators of the Philippines. If elections were to take place today, whom would you most probably vote for as senators of the Philippines? You can mention up to 12 names."
Tulfo ranked 1st with 57 percent, followed by Sorsogon Gov. Francis Escudero (41 percent), Antique Rep. Loren Legarda (41 percent), former Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar (41 percent), who shared the 2nd to 4th places.
Also in the list of preferred senatorial bets in 2022 are Taguig-Pateros 1st District Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano (38 percent, 5th); Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri (34 percent, 6th); former Senator Jinggoy Estrada (29 percent, 7th); Senator Francis Pangilinan (28 percent, 8th place); TV personality Willie Revillame (25 percent 9th-10th); Senator Risa Hontiveros (25 percent, 9th-10th); Senator Sherwin Gatchalian (21 percent, 11th-12th); and Senator Richard Gordon (21 percent, 11th-12th).
Other names in the list include former Senator Paolo Benigno Aquino IV (19 percent, 13th-15th); former Senator and Information and Communications Technology Secretary Gregorio Honasan (19 percent, 13th-15th); and former Senator JV Ejercito (19 percent, 13th-15th).
