PDP-Laban preps for Bato-Go national campaign; Duterte to attend Iligan City caucus

The PDP-Laban tandem of Senator Ronald Dela Rosa and Christopher Go has started preparing for the 2022 national campaign with President Rodrigo 
Duterte expected to go all out for the duo.

Party Secretary General Melvin Matibag revealed that Duterte, PDP-Laban chairman, will attend th launch of the series of regional party caucuses in Iligan City, Lanao del Norte on Saturday, Oct. 16.

He disclosed in a virtual news forum on Friday, that the country’s ruling political party has also started to discuss propaganda strategies with the publicity team that will support De la Rosa’s presidential bid and Go’s vice presidential candidacy.

Duterte will address the town hall type meeting in Iligan City that will attended by at least 250 local party officials and members and live streamed in the internet social media.

“Magtataasan ng kamay at may endorsement ng pangulo. (There will be raising of hands and endorsements by the president) Local candidates and party members will declare their commitment to our national candidates ... it’s like a political party but more on solidifying our forces,” said Matibag.

“It’s not really a rally but a gathering of all PDP-Laban (members) in that area. It will be consultative.” He also gave the assurance that health protocols will be strictly adhered to even as only 250 individuals will be accommodated in the venue that could hold at least 1,000.

Local politics in Lanao del Norte has been dominated in over half-a-century now by the Dimaporo family headed by incumbent 2nd District Rep. Abdullah Dimaporo and his wife, Imelda Quibranza-Dimaporo, both members of PDP-Laban.

Their son, Mohamad Khalid Dimaporo represents the province’s second district in the House of Representatives. He is the chairman of the House Committee on Mindanao Affairs.

Matibag said he was scheduled to meet the planners for the proposed mass media commercial of the Bato-Go tandem on Friday.

“Hopefully we hae have it as soon as possible. We will be looking at the messaging,” he said.

According to Matibag the target release of the political advertisement is on or before November 15, the last day for the filing of substitution of candidacies.
