DOH reports 7,625 more COVID-19 cases

Another 7,625 individuals tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the Department of Health (DOH) reported on Friday, Oct. 15.

The DOH said that active cases nationwide stood at 78,999 or 2.9 percent of the overall tally which was at 2,705,792.

About 80.6 percent of active cases have mild symptoms, 6.4 percent were asymptomatic, 7.38 percent were in moderate condition, 3.9 percent have severe symptoms, and 1.7 percent were in critical state.

The death toll climbed to 40,424 or 1.49 percent of the COVID-19 case total after 203 more patients died

Meanwhile, 13,363 others survived, pushing the recovery count to 2,586,369 or 95.6 percent of the total number of cases.

“Sana po tayo ay sumunod sa mga pamantayan ng ating local governments para hindi na tumaas muli ang ating mga kaso at hindi po tayo bumalik sa cycle natin na magsasara, tapos magbubukas (I hope we follow the health standards of our local governments so that our cases do not rise again and we do not go back to our cycle of closing some sectors, then reopen it again),” said DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire.

She also urged eligible Filipinos to get vaccinated already.

“Kung kayo po ay eligible na, please have yourselves vaccinated. Nakita na po natin ang real world effectiveness ng bakuna dito sa ating bansa....Sana po paniwalaan natin ang ating bakuna. Ito ay makakapagbigay ng proteksyon para sa inyo at pamilya (If you are eligible, please have yourselves vaccinated. We have already seen the real world effectiveness of the vaccine here in our country... I hope we believe in the effectiveness of these vaccines. These will provide protection for you and your family),” she added.
