Adiwang claps back at Brooks: I am ready to humble him

Lito Adiwang of Team Lakay will use the Circle to put a stop at Jarred Brooks when they clash in the main event of ONE: NEXTGEN III next month at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

"I think he's just an unlucky guy who talks and acts like a monkey. I guess that's why he calls himself 'The Monkey God' because he will try to bluff and get in his opponents' head before the fight and that's really all he could do," said Adiwang, who recently got back to the No. 5 spot of the strawweight division after beating Chinese foe Hexigetu last month.

It would be recalled that Brooks, a newcomer in ONE Championship but a veteran in the mixed martial arts realm, called out Adiwang's teammate and reigning strawweight world champion Joshua Pacio.

Brooks said he will "rip him apart" to prove that he's the best strawweight in the world.

While Pacio already responded to the American sensation, it will be Adiwang who will trade blows with him come fight night on November 26.

Adiwang and Brooks were supposed to lock horns in April during the promotion's American television debut through its ONE on TNT series but the Team Lakay stalwart tested positive for COVID-19, putting the match on hold.

Adiwang's bout against Brooks will also mark his first main event match in the Singapore-based promotion since his promotional debut in October 2019.

"I am ready to humble him and show him that the lions in this division eat monkeys like him for breakfast," said the 28-year-old Adiwang, who owns a 13-3 record.

"I've improved from my last fight. I think that I'm a smarter, stronger, and tougher fighter now who's ready to continue winning in the strawweight division."

Brooks, for his part, is riding on a three-match win streak since September 2018 with the latest coming from Haruo Ochi in Bellator last December 2019 to improve at 16-2 slate.
