Mayor Isko on substitution of candidacy: Filipinos don't deserve it

Presidential aspirant and Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso is hoping the substitution of candidacy will not be allowed in future elections.

While the law allows it, Moreno said he personally dislikes the practice of changing candidates.

"I don't believe that the people deserve it. Our ignorance lalo pang pinangangalandakan," said Domagoso, noting that kind of move is just taking people for a ride.

"Substitution, the law allows it, sad to say. I hope someday it will be changed. I don't believe in that, kasi ang tawag mo diyan, tsinutsubibo tayo, fine ferris wheel, pinapaikot tayo, Filipinos don't deserve it," he added.

Domagoso made this comment as many supporters of Davao City Mayor Sara Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio are still hoping that the latter would change her mind and run for president instead in the May 2022 elections.

Carpio is seeking another three-year term as Davao City mayor. She filed her certificate of candidacy on October 2.

The 46-year-old Manila mayor earlier said he will not change his decision on running for president because the people need "decisiveness" amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
