Fully vaccinated individuals reach 68% in Taguig

Taguig City has fully inoculated more than 592,000 individuals and administered a total of 1.22 million COVID-19 vaccine doses.

According to an update by TRACE Taguig, as of Oct. 12, 592,387 individuals in Taguig are now fully vaccinated.

This is equivalent to 68 percent of Taguig’s total population of 872,980 based on the 2021 projection by the Department of Health (DOH).

In addition, 649,128 individuals in Taguig have received their first dose of the vaccine, or 74 percent of the population. To date, a total of 1,225,598 vaccines have been administered in Taguig’s vaccination hubs.

Meanwhile, Taguig recorded 1,155 active coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases as of Oct. 11 including 139 new cases for the day out of 48,536 confirmed cases, 47,032 recoveries and 349 deaths.

In its weekly report, the Taguig City government said from Oct. 1 to 7, 1,684 new cases were added to its tally or an average of 241 cases per day.

Mayor Lino Cayetano said one of the major reasons why the number of COVID-19 cases in Taguig is decreasing is because of vaccination.

The city government opened vaccination sites in 31 barangay health centers, called microsites, to expand the vaccination reach.

This brings the total vaccination sites in Taguig to 37, including four mega vaccination hubs and two Taguig mobile vaccination buses.

The Taguig Safe City Task Force also reported that from Oct. 1 to 7, 1,475 individuals were apprehended for health and safety protocol violations including not observing social distancing, loitering, curfew violation and not wearing face masks and face shields. Of the total, 113 were given citation tickets and 1,322 were given warnings.
