DSWD logs 2,536 evacuees in 3 regions hit by 'Maring'
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said Wednesday, Oct. 13, that over 2,500 individuals or more than 700 families are currently staying in evacuation centers in Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) and the National Capital Region (NCR).

The DSWD said as of Oct. 12, 6 p.m., 762 families or 2,536 persons from the three affected regions “are currently taking temporary shelter in 58 evacuation centers.”
It reported that severe tropical storm ‘Maring’ has so far affected 2,137 families or 7,842 individuals from Cagayan Valley, CAR, and Metro Manila.
“The Department’s Quick Response Teams in the affected regions have been activated and remain on alert status to work with concerned LGUs in assisting their constituents,” it said in a statement.
The DSWD expressed its readiness to augment the resources of the local government units (LGUs) affected by ‘Maring’ “to ensure the provision of relief assistance to the affected families.”
As of Oct. 12, the Social Welfare department has maintained stockpiles and standby funds amounting to more than ₱1.06 billion.
“Of which, more than ₱133 million is the available standby funds in the DSWD Central Office and its Field Offices (FOs).”
The DSWD also noted that a total of 381,893 family food packs (FFPs) have already been prepositioned in strategic locations around the country and were ready for distribution.
