The Makati City local government unit (LGU) ramped up their drive against illegal parking on Thursday as they launched a new series of clamping operations throughout the city.
Under City Ordinance No. 2013-A-061, city officers are obliged to apply wheel locks on illegally parked vehicles and penalize violators.
The Makati Action Center (MAC), together with the Public Safety Department (PSD), started their clamping along J.P Rizal St. in Brgy. Cembo; Rizal Extension in Brgy. West; J.P Rizal Extn., Apitong St., and Alagao St. corner Apitong St. in Brgy. East Rembo; along Apitong St., Kamagong St., J.P. Rizal St., Talisay St., Sampaloc St., along Bayabas St. in Brgy Comembo, along J.P Rizal St. in Brgy. Olympia, along Zapote St. in Brgy. Sta. Cruz; along Urban St., Medina St., and Dela Rosa St. in Brgy. Pio Delpilar; along Apolinarios St., and P. Binay St. in Bangkal.
According to the Makati Public Information Office (MPIO), the anti-illegal parking operations will be conducted daily until stubborn violators comply with the rules and regulations of the city.
The city government reminded the offenders to avoid leaving their vehicles in unauthorized parking spaces to avoid wheel clamps and getting violation tickets. (Lemuel Baruela)
