Lacson, Sotto to jail corrupt Cabinet men

Corrupt Cabinet officials will be sent to jail as an example should Senators Panfilo "Ping" Lacson and Vicente "Tito" Sotto III be elected to the Philippines' highest posts next year.

This was Lacson's statement Tuesday, October 12, as he vowed a "different brand of discipline" for rogue Cabinet officials who figure in extortion and other illegal activities.

"If we become President and Vice President of this country, Filipinos may yet witness the spectacle of a Cabinet member turned rogue being arrested for extortion," Lacson said on Twitter.

"This is the kind of discipline that the Lacson-Sotto leadership intends to instill in government officials," he added.

In a separate interview, the presidential aspirant said it is high time for high-ranking government officials to set an example to their fellow public servants.

"It’s about time na ang example ay manggaling sa kataas-taasan. Hindi pwedeng ang sinisibak lamang ay yung maliit at hindi sumusunod kasi nakikita sa taas namamayagpag (It's about time we make example of higher-ranking officials. We cannot fire the small fry just to let the big fish continue to extort)," he told Radyo 5.

Lacson and Sotto are seeking presidency and vice presidency, respectively, in the 2022 elections.

In launching their tandem last September 8, they vowed to restorure public trust in government institutions.
