Rody 'never exposed' to COVID-stricken Sara, says PSG


President Duterte was never in close contact with his daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, who tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) over the weekend.

"PRRD (Duterte) was never exposed," read a short statement sent to Malacañang reporters Monday morning, Oct. 11 by Col. Randolph Cabangbang, commander of the Presidential Security Group (PSG).

The PSG is in charge of the close-in security of the President. The Chief Executive is 76 years old.

It was Saturday night, Oct. 9 when the camp of Duterte-Carpio reported that she had tested positive for the dreaded COVID-19.

"She has mild symptoms and is in isolation caring for other family members who need medical attention in Davao City. The family requests for complete privacy at this time and respectfully urge the public to refrain from sending tokens for well wishes," he camp said.

Duterte-Carpio is vying for reelection as Davao chief executive. This dashed her father's hopes that she would run for president in the May 2022 elections.
