
The Philippines recorded 8,292 new cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Monday, Oct. 11, pushing the nationwide case count to 2,674,814.
The new infections brought the number of active cases to 98,894 or 3.7 percent of the country’s total case tally, based on the latest case bulletin issued by the Department of Health (DOH).
Of the active cases, 74.4 percent are experiencing mild symptoms, 15 percent are asymptomatic, 1.3 percent are critical, 3.2 percent are severe, and 6.14 percent are in moderate condition.
Moreover, the Health department reported an additional 302 fresh recoveries, raising the number recovered cases to 2,536,260 or 94.8 percent of the total infections.
On the other hand, the death toll also increased to 39,660 or 1.48 percent of the COVID-19 case count after 36 more people died due to the viral illness.
The DOH said 40 duplicates were removed from the total case count. Of these, 32 are recoveries.
Moreover, 21 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.
All labs were operational on Oct. 9, the DOH said, while two labs were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS).
