As Sara rejects calls, Duterte thinks Bato has a good shot in becoming next president
As his daughter continued to reject the calls to aim for the presidency, President Duterte thinks that Senator Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa has a good shot of becoming his successor in Malacañang and said it would actually be good for the country if the retired police general wins in the 2022 elections.

Duterte made the statement after his daughter Davao City Mayor Sara "Inday" Duterte-Carpio rejected the clamor for her presidential bid and insisted on completing her three terms and filed for reelection last week.
In an interview with SMNI News, the President said his daughter was "definitely" out of the picture.
"Inday is definitely out as she has said earlier and for the repeated statements in so many, I think interviews, she has maintained that she's not running. She was just true to her words," he said.
However, he said there will still be many opportunities for the Davao City Mayor to run for a national post.
"Inday is young and there will always be some opportunities in the future for her. Not necessarily the presidency but, well, one of those options in life, especially if you think of the imponderables of life," he said.
"Hindi natin talaga malaman (We really cannot say)," he added.
Meanwhile, President Duterte said that his party PDP-Laban's presidential bet Dela Rosa, the former head of the Philippine National Police (PNP), has a good chance of winning the presidency and it would actually be good for the country if he does win.
"He might still make it. With so many candidates filing certificates of candidacy, might... you know?" he said.
"You can never tell the destiny of man," he added.
"It would be good to have a military man as president of this republic," he continued.
According to the President, Dela Rosa was a "last-minute" decision of the PDP-Laban faction headed by Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi.
"Kasi wala kaming ulo (It's because we don't have anyone to lead us) and I think PDP decided, last minute or the last day of the filing of the certificates, that it would be good to have a... at least a head of the whole team," he said.
The Cusi faction of the PDP-Laban originally wanted Duterte to run for vice president alongside his long-time aide Senator Bong Go to ensure continuity of the programs of the administration.
Duterte accepted the nomination but surprised the nation on October 2 when it was Go who filed his certificate of candidacy for vice president and Duterte announcing his resignation from politics.
