CEBU CITY — Authorities here on Monday, October 11, started the online registration for the vaccination of individuals aged 12 to 17.
Dr. Jeffrey Ibones, Officer-in-Charge of the Cebu City Health Department (CHD), said while the registration has started, it remained unknown yet when the vaccination will begin.
“According to the Department of Health, we will prioritize those with comorbidities but we are still waiting the guidelines,” Ibones said.
Ibones said vaccinees must be accompanied by their parents or authorized guardians while those with comorbidities must present medical certificate.
Cebu City Acting Mayor Michael Rama and Councilor Joel Garganera, chief of the city’s Emergency Operations Center urged parents to register their children for the vaccination.
“Vaccination is a game changer. It’s one of the reasons why we were able to put our cases down because almost 45 percent of the targeted population are already fully vaccinated. Vaccinating our children will have a big impact,” said Garganera.
The city is targeting to vaccinate 738,453 individuals to achieve herd immunity.
According to CHD, the city has already fully vaccinated 319,803 individuals.
