Markus and Moophs collab anew for 'Real'

Actor-singer Markus Paterson and Tarsier Records label head Moophs have teamed up again for their new single “Real.”

The song marks their second collaboration this year, following their Father’s Day single “Every Day,” which they dedicated to their respective firstborns: Jude, Markus’ son with partner Janella Salvador, and Odriana, Moophs’ and wife Alex’s daughter.

The neo-soul/pop track “Real” lays out the journey of deciding to commit to a future with a special someone by learning about her intentions and finding out how genuine the connection is.

According to Moophs, it took form from a random guitar idea he had during a session for a different track that had a unique chord progression—which eventually morphed into a new song of its own.

“Despite the unconventional chords, I tried to keep the hook melody very simple and easy to sing along to. I think the combination of the two with some garage hip-hop type of drums/prod turned out well,” he said.

Individually, Markus released his “B-Side” EP in October of last year, which currently has over 3 million streams on Spotify alone. Meanwhile, Moophs’ most recent projects include “Shipwrecked” with Bugoy Drilon and “Afraid” with former BoybandPH member Russell.
