Jake Cuenca arrested after police car chase in Mandaluyong City

Police arrested actor Jake Cuenca following a car chase in Mandaluyong City Saturday night, Oct. 9.

This was revealed by Eastern Police District-National Capital Region Police Director P/BGen. Matthew Bacay following operations, during an interview on DzBB.

It started when the vehicle of Cuenca rammed the police patrol cars. Despite this, the actor continued to drive.

Operatives pursued the vehicle. When the escaping vehicle was cornered somewhere on Shaw Blvd., it was discovered that the driver of the vehicle was Cuenca.

"Last night at about 9 pm, may dumaan na sasakyan, unfortunately tinamaan ang sasakyan ng mga pulis natin at hindi tumigil ang sasakyanâ€¦," he said. "Hinabol ng mga pulis natin hanggang sa nakarating sa area ng Pasig sa may Shaw and when confronted, nakita na ang driver ng sasakyan ay ang aktor na si Jake Cuenca."

Cuenca tried to escape again. It was at this point that one of the police officers shot one of the tires of the actor's vehicle. Cuenca's car finally stopped. Unfortunately, a stray bullet hit a Grab driver nearby.

"During the chase, kailangan i-disable ang sasakyan (ni Jake Cuenca) kaya pinutukan ang gulongâ€¦ May Grab driver na tinamaan ng stray bulletâ€¦ Nasa maayos naman na kalagayan sa ospital ang Grab driverâ€¦," Bacay said.

Following Cuenca's arrest, police immediately checked his vehicle. No illegal items were found inside the car of Kylie Verzosa's boyfriend, reports added.

Charges of reckless imprudence resulting to damage to property were filed against the actor, police said.

"Upon sa inspection sa sasakyan ni Jake, wala namang nakitang something illegal. He (Jake Cuenca) was arrested kasi mayroong tayong ikakaso sa kanya na reckless imprudence resulting to damage to property."
