Grab driver hit by stray bullet during Cuenca car chase

A Grab rider was hit by a stray bullet during a car chase involving members of Mandaluyong Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit (MPSDEU) and actor Jake Cuenca yesterday, Oct. 9.

According to a report released by the Eastern Police District Public Information Office (EPD-PIO), Grab driver Eleazar Bandolan Martinito, 43, was hit by a stray bullet in the right side of his hip when MPSDEU operatives attempted to shoot the rear tires of Cuenca’s vehicle as the actor evaded arrest after hitting the unit's car in Mandaluyong City.

Martinito was immediately brought to Rizal Medical Center in Pasig for immediate treatment and is currently under observation.

According to the EPD-PIO report, the attending physician may conduct a surgery on Martinito.

The operatives of the MPSDEU led by Police Major Elvin Ballesteros have submitted themselves for investigation and are currently under restrictive custody. Their firearms have also been subjected to ballistics tests.
