The De La Salle University (DLSU) lauded journalist Maria Ressa for winning the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize for her "efforts to safeguard freedom of expression."

DLSU congratulated Ressa -- who also received the Ka Pepe Diokno Human Rights Award in 2019.

"For while truth-seeking is most difficult in the face of the biggest powers in the world, it brings grace to those who seek it and strengthens all who journey in the light of faith," the University said.

Meanwhile, St. Scholastica's College applauded alumna Ressa , citing her efforts to "safeguard freedom of expression, which is a precondition for democracy and lasting peace."

"We are proud of you and we stand with you in your fight for truth in journalism."

Ressa is the first Filipino recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize.
